This is all I can drag up until I get my interview.
"Scott (Ellis, drums) and I grew up together in Huntingdon Beach,
which has been a hotbed of music since we were kids," coos Ms Echo.
"We grew up around music, and he and Jeff (Schartoff, bass) were
playing in garages and stuff since for ever". "I never considered
singing as such, but I'd come to their rehearsals and say, 'Why don't
you let me have a go?' and they'd just laugh. I don't know who heard
me sing, but someone did so Scott gave in. I had a go and it felt
great. We hung out together for about a year, writing stuff and
playing in the garage, and then Mike Tempesta (guitarist and brother
of White Zombie's John) came in, and that was the final piece of the
puzzle."
Before the actual formation of HWP, Aimee went to college and ran a body
piercing shop on the side.
"When you're holding a needle in your hand you have a lot of power
over a man, and I think they realise that treating someone with
respect in that situation is wise!" -Aimee, after being asked if she'd
been propositioned while piercing someone.
Hero was formed after Aimee, Scott, Jamie and Mike's (Smith, original
guitarist and formerly of Snot) bands had toured together and they decided
it would be cool, someday, to jam together. After the demise of their bands,
they did, and called themselves "Hero". The name didn't last long because
apparently, everyone was called Hero already. So they changed it to
"theSTART" after it was suggested by Aimee's mom, Laura. They were hoping
to create something different from the mainstream with this band, and
labeled their sound "dance music from the future". Mike didn't end up working out,
so they snagged Jeff Jaeger from the band Smirch to take over on bass, and the
multi-talented Jamie took over on guitar. The band was signed by The
Label, but it only lasted a little while before they were dropped, and
now they're entirely self-funded, but awesome as hell.

Age: "I don't believe in linear time, therefore I have no age."
Tattoos: HUGE floral design on lower abs, theSTART "cirlces" logo in
red on inner left wrist, multi-colored cluster of stars on inner left
wrist, HWP "Elux" heart and stars logo on back of neck.
